Sustainability

Sustainability is more than an update of corporate citizenship or environmental awareness. Sustainability has been adopted by big and small companies as a means of ensuring profitability now and into the future.

What is sustainability?

Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. That elegant definition means a sustainable business can maintain a level of activity indefinitely. Most of us prefer to grow our business so resources must either increase or our business must use proportionately fewer resources for a growth model to be sustainable.

How do we practice sustainability?

Service Lamp has adopted the concept of sustainability as a guiding principle so we are more profitable in the near term and build value well into the future. We believe that sustainability is good business that is good for business.

We use post-consumer recycled product in our business. In fact, 90% of our packaging and packing material is recycled. We use energy efficient lighting in our facilities and recycle engine oil from our delivery trucks.

We follow the lead of major corporations in our practice of sustainability, corporations such as

• UPS

We practice sustainability in our operations and encourage our customers to do the same by recommending energy efficient lighting products and providing for recycling of spent lighting products.

Sustainable Lighting

Sustainable lighting is lighting that meets the needs of the visual environment with minimum impact on the physical environment. We encourage our customers to work toward sustainable lighting. We provide links to sites dealing with sustainability issues. We also provide a complete presentation on sustainable lighting that can be used or freely modified.
